  1. Can I send a text or make a phone call to an international number using my campusSIMs card?

    International texting is free. In order to send an international text, dial 011 and the country code. For example, to send a text message to a mobile phone in China, dial 011 86 (country code) and then the phone number. International calling must be added to your wireless plan before you are able to place outgoing phone calls. The international calling plan is available for an additional $10 per month and can be purchased by logging into your account.

  2. What’s the difference between campusSIMs and other major carriers (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.)?

    campusSIMs is a no-contract phone service that is specially designed for international students. There are no background checks or passport check requirements, and we do not require you to purchase a phone through us.

  3. What is an unlocked GSM phone?

    Most carriers (T-mobile, AT&T) are operating on a GSM network. Unlocked means the phone can accept various SIM cards from different providers and will work on their network. Most cellphones outside the United States are unlocked GSM phones, which are compatible with our service.

  4. Can I transfer my number from other carriers to campusSIMs?

    Yes, you can call your current carrier to request a number transfer. The change usually takes 1-2 days to process. Then you can create your campusSIMs account online and pick your plan.

  5. Can I make international calls or texts?

    At this time, you may send and receive international texts, which will count as 1 text each way. Coming in the fall of 2015 you will have the option to add international calling minutes for a low monthly cost.

  6. Can I change my service plan to a different base amount?

    Yes, login to your account and go to “Manage Plan.” Then you can click “change service plan” to make any possible changes.

  7. Can I freeze my service when I go home for breaks?

    Yes, you can freeze your service for up to 120 days (a suspension fee may apply), which reserves your number. Then, when you arrive back in the United States, you simply unfreeze your service and your phone is active again.

  8. Are there any hidden fees?

    With campusSIMs, what you see is what you pay. The only fees that you pay are a $9.99 activation fee and taxes that are required by law for 911, FCC, state sales tax and other mandatory taxes.

  9. How flexible are my choices?

    Our plan choices are designed for you to make your plan fit your lifestyle. We know that your needs change throughout the year. You choose the base amount of each feature for texting, talking and data that you want, then add on additional amounts of each feature on an individual basis as needed or on a recurring monthly basis.
